Education

Sophomore Economics/Biology double major at West Texas A&M University

Experience

-I have tutored several students over the years in algebra, English, social studies, biology. I have helped prepare students for their entrance tests and standardized testing such as the ACT, SAT, the TAKS/STAAR tests and other qualifying tests. -I received a 27 on my ACT. I only took it once, and did not take the SAT due to my financial struggles. -I want to be a tutor because I know what it is like to struggle. I have been there. People have helped me get through rough academic patches and tutoring others would be a great way to pay back the knowledge I received and pass it on. Tutoring would also be a good way to supplement my income, and help my family monetarily. This opportunity is the best of both worlds for me, combining my passion and desire to help others and helping myself succeed in today's world. -I have taken Biology I and II, Chemistry I and II, Anatomy and Physiology I, Honors Philosophy, Honors Microeconomics, Honors Political Science, Honors Media and Politics, and Communications. -I am a chef at a local restaurant called Thai Kitchen, I am a member of the Attebury Honors Program at West Texas A&M University and the Tri-Beta Delta Honors Biology Society, an active member of the collegiate version of Kiwanis called Circle K International and the world-renowned free-enterprise entrepreneurship club SIFE/Enactus. I was a superintendent scholar all my high school career and was inducted into the National Honor Society and the National Hispanic Honor Society---a club for Honors Spanish III-IV. I won an All-Star Cast award for my role in our UIL One-Act Competition. I have won several scholarships over the years for my academic achievements. I also help teach and assist an Honors Freshman Seminar class as a peer mentor.

Hobbies

I am very family-oriented. I love to read and relax. I love to paint while listening to music at night. At times I play music--guitar and ukulele, to pass the time. I love cooking, which is why I work for Thai Kitchen part-time. I like people and helping them, that why I do a lot of community service for Circle K International and their ELIMINATE project, SIFE/Enactus, the food bank and Habitat for Humanity.
